Mariners are advised that an Olympic Marine Security Zone will be in effect around Ballantyne Pier from 10 January – 5 March 2010. This zone is clearly delineated and extends 50 metres outside of the floating marine security barrier. No unauthorized marine vessels or activity will be permitted inside this zone.

The zone will be patrolled by Olympic marine security vessels which may include diving operations. Mariners are further advised to avoid this security zone and navigate with caution when approaching security vessels. “Olympic Marine Security” can be contacted on VHF channel 9 or 16.
Mariners are reminded that Olympic marine security vessels may conduct hailings of vessels and are authorized to stop any vessel for inspection. A 5kt speed limit imposed by the Port Authority is in force south of a line between Vanterm and Brockton Point light.
For marine security purposes, this Olympic Marine Security Zone has been divided into Exclusion and Controlled Access Zones as follows:
Entry into the Exclusion and Controlled Access Zones will only be authorized for a limited number of previously authorized commercial vessels, that normally berth or operate at Centerm/Ballantyne Pier and as authorized in an emergency. These vessels must receive Olympic marine security approval to operate and are subject to all Olympic marine security requirements. No other vessels will be permitted to access the Exclusion and Controlled Access Zones.
Communications – Olympic Marine Security can be contacted on VHF channel 9/16 using the call-sign “Olympic Marine Security” or at 604-915-5814
